Employee Group Benefits
Many Canadian employee group benefit plans reimburse participants for counselling services within identified spending limits and/or provide limited counselling services through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) throughout the Okanagan. Shelley at Kelowna Counselling is a Registered Social Worker. Check with your employer and EAP provider to ensure your plan includes coverage when counselling services are provided by a Registered Social Worker and for a referral to Kelowna Counselling.
Structure & Processes
Individual, couple or family sessions (in person or Skype) are typically 50 minutes long, however there are benefits to 90 minute or longer EMDR sessions. All sessions are arranged to suit each client’s distinct needs and the cost adjusted accordingly.
Group Therapy typically runs for six weekly sessions. Sessions are 1.5 hours in duration.
Payment is required prior to the start of each counselling session (with full payment due at the first session of a Group/six week program) via cash or personal cheque. A receipt is issued at the time of payment and is suitable for submission to an extended health plan. Clients are advised to check with their provider prior to their initial appointment to ensure coverage is provided.
Clients must read and sign the Statement of Understanding: Confidentiality Policy and Consent to Counselling Form prior to participating in counselling services at Kelowna Counselling. A Parent or Guardian must sign for anyone age 18 and under. Both parents or legal guardians must sign for anyone age 18 and under when there is joint custody.
Kelowna Counselling requires a full 48 hour notification of cancellation of appointments. No advance notice of cancellation results in the full session fee being charged. Consideration will be given for extraordinary circumstances.
Withdrawals from Group Therapy: Requests for withdrawals must be received in writing. You may email your request to firstname.lastname@example.org. A $50 administration fee will be applied to all withdrawals. Withdrawals due to illness require a physician’s note: a pro-rated credit will be issued. Requests received up to 48 hours after the second class will be reimbursed less a $50 administration fee. Requests received after this time will not be eligible for a refund.
NSF Cheques: The cost of processing an NSF cheque is $35.
